April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among a few female players of beach volleyball that have done so. She will be competing in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic debut gold but she is also aiming to earn even more. And at the age of 39, this could be her last chance to do so. Her confidence is high, however. If we perform at our very top or do well, I believe we can get that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, it's a matter of chance. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. She went on to compete in numerous sports in Newport Harbor High School. Apart from indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. In the last sport she stood out. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter at the tennis court, according to her college bio. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. The skills she showed in volleyball also brought her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman might be working on a project in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they came together. The fact is, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was an all-star volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until the year 2013. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the 2009 World Championships. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympic Games. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. The duo were able to win bronze in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played in high school, and even some years before she hit the beach as a professional. Her experience at USC was impressive. When she was a freshman in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four with her help. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American title. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Sadly, Ross mom Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer while she was a sophomore at USC. However, she keeps her mother in her his heart. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her, both at and off the beaches.
