In the seasons 1-8, shippers bid on two shipments listed on uShip, in reverse auction format. Bids contain comments about the probable costs and risks as well as the motives, and abilities. If the time limit expires for an auction it is awarded to the lowest bidding bidder. The client's discretion however, the job could be awarded to the bidder who has an average rating of higher than past customers. To break any ties, feedback ratings are utilized. Season 9 shippers are able to receive their loads via the shipping broker. They are not aware of the bidding process. Instead they load their cargo and attempt to deliver it without damage prior to the deadline set by the recipient or the client. Once the loads have been delivered, feedback ratings are shown from customers. The revenue of each shipper and expenses (fuel as well as late-delivery penalties) will be displayed on the screen at the conclusion. To determine the profit or loss the bid amount is subtracted. Sometimes, a shipper might organize to haul additional loads in the same journey. This will be added to the total. The shipper may not be able to finish the task because of safety concerns or the size of the load. Sometimes, a shipper might employ the assistance of another shipper to complete the job. The shippers then decide how they'll split the proceeds. In the first eight seasons, the progress of each shipment is interspersed by humorous critiques from other shippers.
